Possibly the best Christmas hamper I've recieved!
Look what my boss gave me for Christmas on Friday before I left the office! Its a Christmas hamper from a shop in Gzira called The White Sheep. So far their website isn't quite up and running at full capacity but have a look anyhow if you wish. Also check them out on twitter.
It looks like a very interesting shop! All sorts of specialty items. This is a picture of the contents of my hamper, I couldn't wait to share this, I love it. I hope to make a trip over to the shop soon to see all the other fine items they have. Have any of my followers in Malta been to this shop before?
Inside the plain brown box with simple cream colored ribbon I found all sorts of treasures from Tuscany. A bottle of Pinot Noir and extra virgin olive oil; jars of Seggiano red pesto pasta sauce, raw artichoke and fig & grape chutney. A box of Bonci il Panpepato, La Campofilone fettuccine and salt & pepper brigantini. Doesn't all of this sound amazing?!
I'm not a fan of the raw artichoke, so I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet, I opened it it try it...yeah not a fan at all. Oh well. The salt & pepper brigantini is also different but not bad. I can't wait to make dinner one night using every thing else though. Mmmmm, red pesto pasta and a bottle of Pinot Noit. Sounds good to me! And last night while watching tv, sipping tea with a craving for something sweet- I opened up the il Panpepato. YUM! It definitely has an interesting taste but very good! For those that might not know what it is, its hard to describe. Its an Italian desert consisting of candied melon, orange peel, dried figs, sweet almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, honey, spices and dark chocolate. It has a dense chewy consistency. Very tasty though. At first I wasn't sure about it but now I'm quite enjoying it. I may have to have a look for more of this when I eventually go to The White Sheep.

This is gorgeous! What a nice boss you have! I've not been in there yet, I work around Gzira but I'm not even sure where the shop is!
ReplyDeleteMy colleague went in a while ago and got some amazing chocolate, it was like scented and flavoured... I'm not sure what with but it was delightful! x
When I first went and had my pic taken etc they said 2 weeks for the letter to arrive but it arrived in just one week which is pretty good. I then went and lost it... very clever, so I called and they said they'll send out again but now I've had to call and chase it over 3 weeks which is a bit of a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to turn up quickly first time though :) do you hvae a bank account sorted? I need a bank account mainly and hoped having an ID card might make it easier, but if you got one without one I'd love to know which bank you used! xx
well I'm afraid I don't great news for ya on the bank account thing to make it any easier for you.I actually have an offshore bank account with work which is situated in the Isle of Man (yay tax free!)and then I have a joint account here in Malta with my husband at HSBC (he works for the call center here so he didn't have to provide account history from canada etc which is a pain in the ass and then also maybe you dont want to give them that info for whatever reason :o)
ReplyDeleteMy advice would be to try the Bank of Valletta. My husband walked in and was able to open an account immediately when we first got here. Asked for no account history at all just the id card I think. HSBC are dicks lol
